Parking Ruglfies Need

Once again that familiar grievance - parking regulah tions. U.P.E.I. spends far too much time and money att— empting to zealously keep people from using the wrong parking place at the wrong time.

The visitors parking lots are among the most conten— tious of items. Why should two lots — the best two — be reserved for visitors to the University — a status which apparently includes only the Premier's entourage and peo- ple who come to donate money; two classes of people who,I'm sure, do not visit the University more than five or six times a day - and then

only in numbers of eight or less cars.

And why should one of these lots - again the best on campus — be chained off — enabling our frequent money donators (I noticed that the thermometer on that obnoxious The — University— of-Prince—Edward—Island—needs

small suggestion that could create a bit of excitement on the campus.It's called

a WET SHIRT CONTEST.This contest is the latest fad sweeping the U.S. The con— test begins when the contes— tants (only girls)are taken

"lbackstage and given a plain ,white T shirt,they are then . brought back on stage.Next, the front of the girl's shirts are hosed down with warm water thus the shirt sticks to their skin.A panel of judges then chooses the girl that looks the best

in a wet shirt.I am sure that all you girls that are reading this are saying"I

. wouldn't do that!"I am

sure that most of the guys

- already have a good idea what you would look like

handicaps. Let the premier park where he can find a spare like the rest of us. Further - why do we use these absurd parking permit- stickers? The only possible reason for them is to ensure that in the event of a lack of x spaCe, U.P.E.I. students

and staff have first priority.

Yet in the memory of this writer there has never been a lack of spaces at U.P.E.I. It is rumoured that the Security Department is con- sidering abandoning these things. I support them fully in this move and would hope that they institute it as soon as possible. Definitely before the beginning of next

Finally, for the few of- fenses which would continue to be enforced, such as parking in spaces reserved for the disabled andblocking the roadway, to pay the coat and bother of this extra work involved make the fine $2.00 if paid or appealed

within three days and $4.00

As I mentioned, Security and the Parking and Traffic Committee are presently reviewing the rules and will probably institute something done to the above. It is sincerely hoped however, that they will announce these changes as soon as possible.
