It was issued at the instance of wife No. ], and charges the husband with cruelty to her children and desertion. Wife No. 1 was Mias Lizzie Hamilton. Lizzie Ryan is the name of the woman who, it is alleged ie wife No. 2, and the third wife was Mrs, Tupper.—

Mayor Dawson intimated that only ten milk verd rs had paid their license, the others reusing on the ground that tieir taxes last year were illegal and that those should be recouped by the city before any farther taxes were paid. Th» Recorder, whose opinion he had a+*ked on the matter, to the ojinion that the milk- vendors cannot compel the city legally to return this movey, but he was bound to say that the question was not fre from doubt by any means. Itis impossible to say which view the court might hold. Whether or not to risk a suit was a ques- tion for the Council to decide.

Th>* City Collector was instructed to evforce the bye-law in question.

A letter was read from the policemen asking for one weeks holidays darng the vear. The request was granted, Councillors Nicholson, McCarron and Taylor dissent- ing.

Mayor Dawson called the attention of the Council to the fact that the city has no authority to regulate the driving of vehi- cles on the Park Readway. Councillor Nicholson gave notice that he would in- troduce a bye law for this purpose at next meeting.

Couucillor McCarron moved seconded by Councillor Douse that the Stipendiary Magistrate be required to pay in all money collected by him forthe violation of the Lord’s Day Act. Carried.

.. Councillor Nicholson introduced the following resolution which was seconded by Counciller Donse,—

Resolved, That the counc i] hereby authorize and instruct the City Marshal and police officers to lay information in the Police Court against all parties violating the Liquor Regulation Act.

After considerable discussion the resola- tion was unanimously adopted.

Meeting adjourned sine die.
