greatly missed in the districi when as a business man and neighbor he gained the respect and esteem of everyone. By his ready wit and orlginalltv he always st- tracted an audience. and no one appreciated his company more than those who came into dnily contact. with him. Born at Egmont Bay, he first came to Port Hill 40 years ago. where for a considerable number of years he operated successfully a lobster factory. To the local llFll- lermen his passing will be n SW90‘- oss.

The funeral on Saturday. Dec. 9th to Grand River was very largely attended. Mass was rend by Rev. During the year twenty-one meet-inns were held. at two and sometimes three week intervals. We conducted each 'li1 n business- like manner. and at all times our members showed splendid co-oper- anon in everything by which we endeavoured lo further our ideas’ and Red Cross work.

We of course had our ups and downs. One of our greatest set- backs resulted in me very sudden loss of one of our valued members, and to her family we extend our deepest sympathy. as We feel their bereavement is still acute. .

We worked both at meetings andr at our homes on Red Cross donat- ed material for knitting and sew- ing, and used material our society bought. and scraps and floursacks our members donated for quills. Our handiwork for the year cun-
