Mr. J. Robert Nelson, chief clerk of the C. N. R. for the P. E. Island division. Canadian Nat- lonal Railways. died at s o'clock yesterday morning at the P. II. Island Hospital. He was 5'1 years old.

The late Mr. Nelson had been in ill health for a considerable time but continued st his desk until last Tuesday when he was removed. to the hospital.

His thirty-live years oi service with the Railway began when he entered the accountant’: office which at that time was under the management of the late W.'l‘. Huggan.

Later. Mr. Nelson became chief cicrk and served in that. import- ant position under Superintend- ents Horace Macllwen. T. B. Grady. Duncan MacNutt. E. W. NfacKinnon. and finally under the present superintendent, Mr. C. T. Montgomery.

Commenting last night on tho sudden passing of the lute MI- Nelson, Mr. Montgomery said his death came as a distinct loss to the Railway. Mr. Nelson had a1- ways been a faithful and capable executive and his 9051mm- M'- Montgomery said, would be a dif- ficult one to flll.
