One ripe, red tomato, half a dried haddock, one ounce of genuine butter sufficient rice to border a small dish. Boil the rice in water, and dry but do not harden the grains. Put the tomato and butter into an enameled saucepan, and cook over a gentle heat until the tomato is done. Scald and flake the haddock, carefully remove every bone and piece of skin, add the fish to the butter and temato, stir in a beaten egg, and let the mixture cook gently until the egg is just Set, then pour the whole on a dish bordered with rice, and serve at once.— Ex.

When the Baby has Convulsion.

There is little to be done when a child has convulsions except to put it as quickly as possible, into a warm bath. Moistena tablespoon of dry mustard, rub it smooth, and add it to the water in the bath after the child is in it ; do not wait todo it before. The doctor will order one or two teaspoon- fuls of syrup of ipecac, until vomiting is produced, if the convulsion has been caused by undigested food. If from nervous iritation, as in teething, fivefor ten grains of bromide of soda dissolv— ed in water may be given.—August Ladies Home Journal.
