Last evening, King Hiram and Mount Lebanon Lodges, F. & A. M., celebrated St. John’s Day by a grand supper in the Masonic Hall, Summerside. The attendance of ladies and gentlemen was large. Neil McKelv‘e, Esq , occupied the chair. Ihe usual toasts were honored, and the company dispersed at an early hour, well pleased with the success of the affair.

Tue case of Mrs. McKenna, charged with @ breach of the C. T. Act, was commenced at the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court this fore- noon. One witness was examined. He swore he did not get liquor in defendant’s house since the Act came in force. The case was adjourned until Tuesday. The case of H. B. Smith, charged with a similar offence, was postponed until Tuesday, for want of evi- dence.

A TERRIBLE accident occurred at Barlow's Mills, Northam, on Friday last. A young man named McAuslin, while in the act of adjusting the belt on the main wheel of the mill, was caught by the {spindle. The mill was running at fall speed, and the unfortun- ate man was carried around on the wheel over one hundred _ times. Beth legs and arms were broken in_ several places, and he died from the injuries received a quarter of an hour after the accident. He was twenty three years of age.

Tue eorner loafers of this City are a greater nuisance than ever. Night and day the corners from Queen’s Wharf to Kent Street, and from Queen to Prinee Streets, are infested with roughs. Oliver, who is a carpenter, and over 45 years of age, arrived in Fredericton early last spring from Bangor. Soon after arrival he formed the acquaintance of Miss L. Gertrude Baker, a young lady of abont 23 years of age, who is well and favorably known in Fredericton, where her parents reside. In November, greatly against the wishes of the girl’s parents, the couple were married.
