While being conveyed tothe railway station in @ chair, the Jatter broke and his Highness received a shaking up.

A bulletin issued tonight at Marlborough House, the London residence of the Prince says he has fractured his left knee cap.

DEATH OF THE YUKON OUTLAW

Victoria, B. C., July 17.—The steamer Cottage City brought down last night about twenty men, who left Dawson City about June 8th, travelled to White Horse Rapidss, and transterred their steamer to the head of Lake Bennett. They bring tabout three-quarters of a million dollars in dust and paper, mostly the latter. They say tha: tbe banking accommodation at Dawson is now ao good that there is no neceasity for men bringing out money in any other form than drafte. The Cana- dian Bank of Commerce, ahd the Bank of British North America are storing dust

| for shipment via Bt. Michael’s in boats of

the transportation companies. Among the wen believed io have most money oa the Cottage City are the Rutler brothers, of Ellworth, Minn. The eldest went in three year ago, and the other three last year. They have cleaued up a large amount on Bonanza Creek, and now holdgthe cla ms. An English syndicate is represented by McFarland and Coleman, the latter of whom came down last night.

The price obtained cannot be learned, but Coleman, who is thoroughly reliable, is authority for the statement that itis a very large one.

All the men on board refused to state the tull amount of money brought out. Severalof them have been working only ou day’s wages at $15 a day.

The health of Dawson City was good, and no lawlessness exists. The mounted policeare giving great satisfaction.

Exceedingly good strikes have been made on New Bench, Eldorado, Bonanza, French Creek and Skokum Gulch,which are reporied to be enormously preduetive athigh levels. The quartz claim prospect- ed so far yield poor prospects.

* Soapy ” Smith, the notvrious desper- ado, was killed on July 8th by the City Engineer of Skaguav on the wharf at that place. ‘“* Soapy’s” gang had robbed a pew arrival from Dawsoa of $2,700, and a meeting of citizens was called to devise some means of obtaining a retund of the money and ridthe town of “ Soapy’s” gang. ‘“‘ Soapy” proceeded to break up the meeting, armed with & Winchester rifle. At the entrance to the wharf the City Kngineer had been deputed to guard against inter- ruption, and he resicted ‘Soapy’s” ip- trusiou, with the result that the latter struck him with the end of the rifle. The man closed and “Soapy’s” rifle went off severely wounding the guard, who im- mediately shot him through the heart with a revolver, “Soapy* died instantly and at the inquest held subsequently the engineer was eaonerated on the groudd of self defence.
