Mrs. Llghtioot was just disap- pearing behind SOme young hem- lock trees. They saw her white tail for just an instant then it vanish- ed. But he kept to the path in the snow made by Mrs. Lightioot and the twins, and so tramped down the path a little more.

After catching up with mother and following her 101' awhile, one of the twins ventured a question: "When are we going to begin that yard you said we will make?"

If ever there were bwo puzzled young Deer they were Mrs. Light- Ioot‘s twins. They stared all round looking for the beginning o! some- thing that might be that yard, but saw nothing they had not become used to s g ever since the first snow h __ alien. What was that yard? Where was it? How had they begun to make it?

"Be sureto keep in my tracks," said Mother over her shoulder as she moved on.

"Yes'm," replied the twins.

“That's the way we iwill make the yard," said mother. "Your lather will be coming along soon and he will keep in our tracks and that will help." she added.

Now what could their tracks in the snow have to do wltha yard? To the young Deer 1t didn't make sense at all. But there was no time to ask questions. Snow was sitt- ing down through the trees a little -‘fastor and it seemed to them that imother was moving along n. little faster. She wasn't really hurrying, but she wasn't stopping to browse, not even to snatch s. mouthful from a food tree as she passed. And ot course the twins had no chance to eat. They wanted to keep up. Mrs. Lightfoot didn't appear to be heading for any place in par- tioular for she didn't go far in any
