BOOK WINS AWARD

Congratulations go out to Diane Griffin, Executive Director of the Island Nature Trust, and photographers Wayne Barrett and Ann MacKay for winning a prestigious award for their book Atlantic wildflowers. The Peggy Thompson Memorial Publishing Award, the highest publishing award of the Alberta Society of Professional BiolOgists, is given for scientific works of exellence or for publications that communicate scientific information to the public. Atlantic Wildflowers scored high on both points and was the unanimous choic of the Directors of the So- ciety for this special recognition.

The text for this book was written by Diane Griffin and illustrat— ed with photographs by Barrett and MacKay. The two photographers are well-known for their high quality photographs in a number of books that they have done with Oxford Press and for their landscape and other photography. Atlantic wildflowers is enjoying success in the mar- ketplace as well with a fourth place standing on the Chronicle Herald's bestseller list for non-fiction in the Halifax area.
