Les commis comprirent la farce, et riant, ils retirèrent le pain bien imbibé de mélasse. Inatile de dire que Pierre fit mn bon repas.

Par toutes ses ruses innocen- tes et grande finisse, Pierre se gagna l'estime et l'amitié de tous les membres de |a parois- se. Aussi, jamais on ne Île ridi- culisait. On s'apercevait que s’il avait une infirmité, au moins il était doné d’une force et d'un esprit que la faisait disparai.
