- OTTAWA (CP)—Ballots now tre in the{mail asking some 11,000 members of the Cana- dian Union of Postal Workers whether they will support a na- tional strike if current pay ne- gotiations with the federal gov- ernment break down.

The union’s national execu- tive’ announced mailing of the referendum. The _ decision . to seek strike authorization was announced two weeks ago.

Mail handlers now receive $1.81 to $2.15 an hour, postal | clerks from $2 to $2.51 and dis- | patchers, from $2.33 to $2.60. |
