When asked.by the Editor Iof the CADRE to give a res port on the Board of Gov- 'ernors, I realized that a report would at best be tedious and dull (probably evenﬁworse than this.article) so I decided to try and give some insight to the_ students as to the general. purpose and function of= the Board.

The Board, which has two student mambers, has three broad function. It is-the deciding body in all pro- perty and financial oper- ations of the University, it is the major link be- tween the University and the community, and it has the ultimate authority in all non—academic matters.

two (2) years on the 17 of January that my Volkswagen was toWed away from the parking lot behind the barn, at high noon on a beautiful bright winter ,day. Ever since then I have attempted to establish\ my rights, like a "good boy" using the "proper pro~ cedures" within the Univer— sity.

Without going into the details - unreasonable, idiotic and absurd as they are! - let me give us a few salient highlights:

It is safe to say that the Board is actually a "watchdog" in some sense of the word. Although the! Board makes the ultimate deciSion, it bases a fair number of its decis- ions on information gather- éd or giVen by the admin— istration of the University. In a sense, it make sure

Major activities of the Board include budgets, salaries, and the physical. plan for the University, and many other smaller items. ,
