After tracing the story Of its or. ganization by a group of English laymen in 1804, he pointed out that now the Bible. or parts of It, is being printed, in 1100 languages. The function of' the Church. he‘ pointed out, is to spread the good news of the gospel, and the Bible Society is a vital part of the Churche’s life‘and work beéause it helps the church to fulfil its mission. . Increased missionary interest and activity mean more demands upon the society and these de- mands are greater than it is able to meet because Bibles are suppli- ed at much less than *cost to peo- ple who are unable to pay the full price. Besides providing the Bible in many languages for the coun- tries of the world, it makes sure all Canadians have the ‘Bible. For the blind it is supplied in Braille and also on recordings. ’

In closing he said the gifts of its friends to the Bible society will speed the advance of God’fs Kingdom. _

Boost Pensions For Some Retired Federal Employees
