Delhi was assaulted on the morning of September 14th, and the northern part of the city taken. On the 16th the magazine was stormed; and on the 20th the whole city was oveupied. The King and his sons eseaped disguised as wo- men. The attuck ov the Lith was wade with four columns, ove of which, composed of the Cashmere Contingent, was re pulsed; the other columns were successful. An entrance was first effected at the Cashmere Gate. An advance was then made along the ramparts to the main bastion und Cabu! Gate. Tae resistince was very obstinate, aud our loss was computed ut 600 killed and wounded, ine!uding 50 officers.

A body of insurgents, who were threatening Gava, had been dispersed by a small force, chicfly composed of Sikhs, under Major Bartray. The rebels had, however, crossed
the river in his rear, and, reaching the town in the evening, |
had liberated the prisoners from the gaol, and taken their departure next morning. A small number of Europeans who were entrenched in a bungalow were not molested.
Fears were entertained of a new outbreak in Assam. A couspiracy to restore the ex-Rajah had been detected. Col. Hannay had entrenched himself with his Ghoorkas at De- bromghur (?). The Rajah was in custody.
There has been an encounter between a body of 200 San-
thals and a party of Sikhs, under Lieut. Graham. The
Santhals were speedily dispersed,
Sangor and Jubbulpore are being threathened by the Divapore rebels under Kooer Singh.
The Native Artillery at Hyderabad, in Scinde, were dis- armed on the 9th of September.
Bahar was much disorganised, Kooer Singh, the rebel chief at Arrah, had made an incursion into Rewah, ia con- junction with the troops of the Rajah. The Sth Irregular Cavalry, who had been sent to oppose the rebels, were joined by all the disaffected, and laid waste t'.2 country. Sir Colin Campbell had di spatched 1,000 men to check this movement.
An attempt was made at Admedabad, on the 15th Sept., to create a mutiny among the 2d Bombay Grenadiers, but the ringleaders Were seized before they could carry out their designs.

On Friday evening, the 20th instant, at Charlottetown, after a lingering illuess, Sanan, wife of Mr. James Coles, senior, and mother of the Hon. Colonial Secretary of this [stand, in the 71st year of her age.
On Wednesday, the 18th instant, of Consumption, Susan Hammel, at the early age of 19 years. Toa blameless lite she added a mild dispo- sition, and she died, as she lived, at peace with God and man.
At. Bay Fortune, on the 22d of Oct., Nicholas Falla, Esq., in the 96th year of his age. He wasa native of Guernsey, from which be emigrated to this Island A. D. 1805. Le was captain of a transport ship in government service for 14 years, and held a commission of Justice oi | the Peaee fora number of years on this Island. Ile was a man very highly respected by his friemds and acquaintances, was a fall com- municantin the Presbyterian church, and during the last 33 years of his life he was totally bliud. During the last three days befure be died he was speechless, yet from what was known of his religious experience and conduct, itis confidently believed that he ded strong in faith, trusting in the merits of his Saviour, and is now, after a sujourn of nearly 100 years on earth, rejoicing in the presence of his heavenly father.

The symptoms of fever | are various; causing heaviness, languid, difficult breathing, eyes dull) aad heavy, anxiety, sighing and yawning, thirst, nausea and sickness, | a fulness about the stomach, and sometimes vowiting bilious matter. | Dr. Morse’s Indian Root Pills are acknowledged to be a strengthening | and delightful medicine for all kinds of fevers.
