That the medicine which Dr. McNeill has to give may prove to be rather strong, is feared by those who prefer a lawyer from the city. But it may prove remedial. Let Dr. McNeill have a chance.

—The figures submitted to Parliament as Sir Dougles Fox's estimate of the cost of ths proposed Canadian-P. E. Island tunnel are much more reasonable than those which were first published. New York, May 15 —The great Brook- lyn handicap, which bas been the all ab- sorbing topic in turf circles for the past few weeks, has been run. Tenny, who has been the favorite for the last few days, won the race easily enough at the finish, though in the first part of the race he looked out of it. Fully 30,000 persons were present, notwithstanding that a steady drizzling rain prevailed during the after- noon. Lo the betting ring all was pandem. onium.
