Bill for the Encouragement of the Cod sad Mackerel Fisheries. ‘The following mw an Abstract of the bill:

Be it enacted, Thata Bounty of Twelve Shillings and Sixpence per Register ton fer Old Measnrement, shall be allowed on che Vessels hereinafter mentioned, being properly manned and equipped and em- barked in the Cod and Mackerel Fisheries during either of the years 1851, 1852, and 1853 ; the said Bounty to be payable ‘a the Person or Persous being an Inhabi- tant or lohabitants of this Island, Provided tnat such Vessels shall respectively be equipped and fully furnished with all need- ful supplies, stores, and materials. ‘The avcond Clause enacts, ‘That the Bounty stall extend to alt Vessels expressly Stied out for the purpose of the Cod and Mackerel Fisheries. aud which shall have been in the actual prosecution of the Fish- ing Voyage fora period of not less than three and a half Calendar months, between the [5th June and the Ist October in either of the said years, (unless and excepting auch time as may be required to return to land fish caught or taken by the crew ihercof.) ‘Fhe third Clause provides ‘or the appointment for exch Harbour in ine Island of two or more Commissioners for setiling claims for Bounties under this

THIS admirable article has been tested for some years, and proved very voluable, becoming a perfect slate, as hard as mar- ble in a few months, completely protect- ing whatever is coated with it from the action of weather and sire—a_ better fire- proof than tin or xinc. Several Insurance Companies certify they will insure build- ings covered with it at a cheaper rate, than if covered with those metals. It is of two colors, the black is best for roof- ing—the chocolate the best thing ever discovered for sides of either brick or wood, forming a perfect stone coating of a handsome stone or chocolate cojor, can be easily changed by a little white lead to suit the taste. ‘There is nothing equal to it for steamboat and car decks, and all kinds of iron,as it forms a coating near- ly as hard asthe iron itself, and never cleaves off.
