Annual Sunday ' School Convention

-The annual Sunday school can- vention of West Prince districts was held at Lot 14 United Church Thursday, with Rev. Mr. Mcclare II guest speaker for afternoon and evening meetings. Mr. J. '1'. Waldron of Wellington conducted the afternoon devotional period followed by s talk by Mrs. R. H. Pound of Bideford on children's work in the, Sunday school.

The business part of the pro- gram was conducted by the presi- dent, Mrs. Ernest Allan of Union Corner. The new officers for the coming year are: President, J. Elmer MacLesn, Lot 14; vice pre- sldent. I-10yd Darrach, Tyne Val- ley; secretary, Mrs. H. Lldstone, Tyne Valley. Supper was served to the delegates by the ladies of Lot 14.

The evening meeting opened with a devotional period conduct- ed by Mrs. Elmer MacLean fol- lowed by a duet by Miss Blanche Day and Mrs. Maynard Thompson. Rev. Mcclare. gave a talk on the theme. "Go ye therefore and teach" followed by reports of var- ious committees. A dialogue was greatly enjoyed by all. Those taking part were J. T. Waldron, Blanche Day. Mr. and Mrs. L. Darrach and Mrs. H. Lidstone. The dialogue was entitled "Let's Get Together."

Mr. Waldron brought the cori- vention to a close with prayer

Allen gave the sec- retary's report and read s letter of thanks from the superintendent for donations made to the hospital by the aid, such as an operating unit, surgical instruments, a wash- ing machine, sewing machine and s dozen crib blankets for the chil- dren's ward. Along with this the nurses home was not forgotten! a ping pong table and card table have been placed in the recreation room of the home.

Mrs. Amos Hubley, asistant treasurer, gave a. fine report showing s substantial amount in the bank. Plans were made for fall work, such as s rummage sale. brid8es'and the annual League of Mercy Tea.

Members were delighted at the fine amount raised at the thanks- slving food sale on Saturday last and appreciation was extended to the people of the town and coun- try who contributed so generously to this worthy cause. -8.
