It's all crock ! Here I am a student and also the editor of the UPEI FUN. Still I'm hearing about student apathy. If there is anything I hate fore it is student apathy.

I'nlprobably at least as apathetic as anyone else 1round here if not more. So what if I work on the newspaper. I'm not doing it because I don't want to be apathetical or because I feel obliged to do it.

I enjoy it.

People are always say— ing you should do this or you should do that. Stu- dents should get involved in this or should get in- volved in that, they say. They should if they feel like it. These same people spend half their time, no doubt, preaching people about doing their own thing.

Students are involved. They may not be involved in the paper, the radio station or the winter ’ carnival but they are in— volved. I am not going to tell anybody that they are to devote body and soul to the university. we do not want a pack of narrowbminded pseudo—

intellects. This is what Dear Editor,

I would like to here-in voice my concern as to the low level of intelligent and expressive wall writing in the U.P.E.I. Washmrxxns. Is this a sign of the times or does the presence of an eraser suggest the lack of coundtnent to the finer ideals of wall writting. Could it be that U.P.E.I. students? have nothing to say? Are the students in— timidated by those English tests? Is this a sign of growing illiteracy?

Has it gone from; "Why Jonney can't read" to the present situation where we find that Jonney can't spell words over three letters let alone handle the complex four letter vocabulary called for in washroom literay circles.

Have you tried putting chalkboards in the stalls, it could well be a case of writer's block. Perhaps it is difficult to think of something to say. Sone people do their best

Student apathy? HA! That's not why ten people put out the paper this week (the editor not being one). It's not that they don't care about the paper (we get too many remarks to believe that ).. It's not that people are just too lazy (I refuse to be— lieve that). They are first too busy doing oth- er things than to spend all waking hours (and quite a few hours that are supposed to be set aside for sleeping) to something they do not consider that important.

I-hated to do it. I mean write an editorial on Student apathy. But it is 9:15 pm. wednesday, and I have a seminar to do to- HDrrow and couldn't think of anything else to write about. Besides, how could I really consider myself an editor of a student news— paper without writing one

editorial on student apathy so we'll chalk this one up to experience, eh folks, and if time perndts (that is, if I'm granted enough of it) I will never write another one again.

The fact that Blanchard is not invited, for instance, to any of the inter-residence parties ' does not really make any difference, as Blanchard has as many students as the other residences ccutfined, and we are co—ed.

The physical separation is the stupid part of the situation. Blanchard.was built to house university students only, but the ’ planners 'forgot' to put in any sidewalks joining Blane— chard to the rest of the campus. During the wet part of the year (10 ncnths),
