This latest edi- tion has been well compiled with several timely and interesting edi- torials on the meaning and spirit of Christmas. and highway safety lot this season of the year. i The sport section has also brought the paper considerable attention in this issue where matters of sport pertaining to the school have been brought to the fore. The pap- er also includes items of student interest on student activities, shr- ies and matters of lighter vein. ' An addition to this issue has been an advertising section for Christ- mas which has been well prepar- ed. The cover of the paper is also in keeping with the season with Santa and Christmas as the theme.

Canadian farmers produced a lot this year but what it is worth to them is a subject of sharp debate. Cash income from farm products at Sept. 30 was up about one per cent from last year's nine-mwgih figure of 31.657.000.000. This indi- cates that the full-year total ma! be slightly higher than the 52.378,- 000.000 in 1954. ' Total net income may be UP about S330.000.000 to about 31.450.- 000.000. This figure includes 8300,- 000,00 in increased inventories on the farm. largely the result of an abundant wheat crop, and pay- ments of about 83,000,000 under the Prairie Farm Assistance Ail compared with 32,000,000 last year -an increase resulting from 1954's poor wheat crop.

Dr. E. C. Hope. economist of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture notes that by March farm-product prices will have been falling for five years, with the decline slow- ing in the last year.

Other farm-product declines, he says. havenlt lasted more than five years. He thinks the bottom has been almost reached and that. assuming full employment and full lunch-pails for Canadian workers, prices will start to pull out of their slump by late 1956.
