Mass, Sun, of the 17:1h, contains an account of the burglarising of the residence of Mr. Charles Knight, at that place, and the taking therefrom of $195. Knight keeps a boarding house, and amongst his boarders is a young man named James M. Nicholson, belonging to Orwell Cove. Nicholson is a carpenter by trade, and works in Girant’s shop. He was an industrious young man and had managed to save $215, which he kept in his trunk, sot having much taith in banks. There was a roll of $195 in bank uotes and $20 in gold Nicholson went to the theatre on the evening of the robbery, and when he returned he found his trunk, which he left securely locked, open, his roll of bills missing, but the gold which he kept in a smail drawer was un. touched. There is no clue to the guilty person.

Thé new volume of Field Marshal Count von Moltke’s memoirs, which has just been published, contains a number of letters to and from his wife before and after their mar. riage. The volume gives delightful pictures of the simple home life of Queen Victoria and her family at Balmoral, where General Von Moltke visited in 1855 as aide to the ‘Prussian Crown Prince Frederick A curious feature of all the volumes yet issued is that Gen. Von Moltke only makes rare and casual references to Prince Bismarck. It is not known whether Gen. Von Maeltke pure posely avoided making more extended refer ences to-him in his letters or whether it ig due to editing.
