BEWARE OF DOGS! The Pit Bulls have returned to their winter residence at Marion Hall. The older dogs are pleased to wel- come a number of new members to the pack, including Scott Mac- Donald, out head resident. A warm welcome is also extended to out neighbors at Bernadine Hall, the Bios, the Engineers, and our hockey rivals, namely, the Soccer Panthers and the Blanchard Hall Knuckleheads.

September has been a busy month at Marion Hall, with a

number of traditional events held. Experience proved to be a de- _termining factor in the Upper- classmen vs. Freshmen football game, as the veterans steamrolled their younger counterparts by a wide margin. The two teams joined forces in a close game against Blanchard, which was played with uncommon sports- manship.

The annual Terry Fox run was another huge success, as the Pit Bulls raised close to $600 by haul-

ing a hay wagon around the six mile course. Marion Hall will do- nate this money to the Canadian Cancer Foundation in memory of Scott Holt, a former resident who succumbed to leukemia one year ago. Marion Hall wishes to thank Cambrook Farms, CHTN, and the UPEI Student Union for their help. ‘

The Student Union welcomes you back and wishes you every success in the 1988/89 year. As you may remember, last year the Student Union initiated a pro- gram aimed at putting the op- eration and programming of the Panther Lounge back into the hands of the students. One way in which this was achieved was through the Suborganiza- tions choosing the movies for the Friday Afternoon Movie Pubs.

In keeping with this concept, the Suborganization are once again given the opportunity of se- lecting the movies. In order to en-

' sure the success of this program we need everyones co-operation. Your organization is asked to sub- mit fur (4) movies choices, oné (1) week in advance of your movie date. The choices should be listed in order of preference as only two (2) can be shown. The weeks’ no- tice is to ensure the availability of your choices and also to allow ad- vertising in The GEM.

Again you so-operation is needed for the success for this event. Looking forward to hear- ing from you in the future.

There will be a Sub- organizational meeting at 4:00 on Thursday, September 29, 1988, to discuss the Student Union Sub- organizational policy and to orga- nize Pub dates for the semester. Please have a representative from your organization present at this meeting.

As well, Sub-organizational Pub proposal sheets will be avail- able at the Student Union Of- fice as of Monday September 19, 1988 at 9:00am. These will be accepted at the Office starting on Monday, September 26, 1988. The forms will be dated upon re- ceipt to avoid any conflict over dates. (The earlier the proposals are in, the better your chances of getting the date you want.)

Yes, this is another welcome back letter, however it has a new twist. We welcome you back and hope you will come to the Pan- ther Lounge to see the new ad- ditions. There remains one more major addition we wish to make, but we need you and your creativ- ity in order to accomplish this.

We welcome each society, Suborganization, or club to doa photo collage (maximum size, a sheet of bristol board) represent- ing their group. In return we will have the collages mounted and framed with a name plaque. The collages will go on the walls in the Panther Lounge.

We hope that by doing the collages, students will have a stronger sense of involvement in making the Panther Lounge, the student Lounge. Be creative and

. have fun, there are pictures avail-

able from the Yearbook and no doubt each group has, or will have, some pretty unique pictures
