The amount so employed in the year ending on the lst of February, 1812, was 174,948 tons, whilst the amount which has arrived since that time is only 40,096 tons. Very little more is expected during the winter months, so that the diminution in shipping will be nearer two-thirds '1th one-half, and that of timber in the same proportion.
