The regular meeting of Bloom- field Station W. I. met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Smith. The president, Mrs. Robert Shaw. oc- cupied the chair and meeting opened in the usual way. Mem- bers answered roll call by each turning in a handmade apron for bazaar.

The minutes of the last meet- ing were read and approved. The commlttea for the month gave their reports and the following new ones were appointed for next month. Correspondence read included a letter from the eonvenor of So- cial Welfare. Mrs. Macitinnon. also a letter re sending delegate to Copenhagen. It was moved and seconded that donation he made towards sending delegate. Members also voted on the name of a delegate to attend. It was moved an¢'Lseconded that all bills be paid. It was decided that members keep adding to articles for bazaar. First and second year sewing clubs are now or- ganized and classes are being held regularly at the homes of the leaders. The program for the evening was in charge of Mrs. John Foley and consisted of a contest which was won by Mia Ruby Thomson and Mrs. Frank Macbcugsll. At the close od the meeting a delici- ous lunch was served by the hasten.

Carleton Women's Institute was entertained at the house of Mr. and ldrs. Elmer Francis, on Tues- day evading rob. :4. in their reg- ular monthly meeting and a Val- entine Social. The pruident, Mrs. Albert Craswell, presided. ‘The meeting opened with the Ode followed by the Creed in unison. The president then an- nounced that the secretary. Mrs. Erie Thomson was resigning due to ill health. and a new secretary was appointed. it was moved and seconded that the secretary write a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Thomson for her splendid work while secretary and to express sincere good wishes for a speedy return to good health.

Roll call was responded to by ll members. with one new mem- ber joining. Twenty-iour visitors were present. Minutes were read and approved.

There was a discussion as help- ing finance the purchase of a film projector, but nothing de- iinite was decided upon. Several members passed completed Red Cross work in to the convenor. Mrs. Arthur MacMicken kindly invited the members to her home for the next meeting. Roll call to be answered with a quilt block and an Irish joke. Lunch com- mittee: Mrs. Boyd Lowther. Mrs. Allison Harper and Mrs. John Myers. A donation of one dol- lar was gratefully received from Mrs. Thomson. '

A thank you note was read from a shut-in who was remem- bered with a treat at Christ- mas. The meeting closed with “The King". after which a most enjoyable evening was spent in contests, games. etc. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess. assisted by the committee in charge. Proceeds of evening amounted to 811.50.

Communications re the Drama Festival and Musical Festival were submitted and discussed brieﬂy. It was decided that several one-act plays be borrowed and read, with the idea or producing one or more.

A ballot vote was taken on the names oi delegates to go to Cop- enhagen.

The idea of building a hall in the district at an early date was discussed, and’ each member was requested to learn every thing pos- sible on the subject. The idea is al- so to be suggested to the local Farm Forum~group, and a public meeting to be called later.

The Red Cross convenor. Mrs. David Campbell. reported that work would be received after the re- novating at the Red Cross rooms had been completed.

By unanimous vote, the munbers agreed to collect for a gilt to a family whose home had been de- stroyed by fire.

Blocks for the Copenhagen quilt were shown to the members, who are to bring five names and 50 cents each to the next meeting. Miss Merle crazier, Mrs. Harold Macl..eod and Mrs. George Mac- Leod were chosen by virtue of penmanship to write the names.

Prizes for the valentines, judged by the men. were won by Mrs. Clair Campbell for the most origin- al. Mrs. Archie Johnstone for the prettiest and Mrs. Clayton for the funniest.

On Monday evening Feb. 1a. the regular meeting oi the O'l.eary Women's Institute met in the school-house. The president pre- siding. The meeting opened with the singing of "0 Canada". and repeating of creed in unison. There were twenty-five present including five newly enrolled mem- bars.

Mrs. John Moreshead and Mrs. George Msthieson were appointed to see about a play tor the Drama Festival.

Mrs. John Matthews and Mrs Herbert Vatchcr acted as the scrutineers during the balloting for the delegate to Copenhagen.

It was decided that the Institute purchase some supplementary read- ing books and a small blackboard for examinations tor the school. It was also decided that this institute give a scholarship of twenty-iive dollars to the pupil in the O'!.eary school who makes the highest mark in the 1950 Matriculation examin- ations for the furtherance of his or her studies. Sixteen dollars were handed in for the payment of capsules.

The Red Cross committee is to send for four thousand more capsules. The school committee was appointed to see about obtaining drinking cups until the fountain is iixed. A thank-you card was read irom Mrs. Cyril Easter. A letter was read regarding. the Child wel- fsre Programme and the question- naire us. A donation was voted toward the March of Dimes. A report regarding a film pro- jector was given by Mrs. ll. W. Turner. The institute agreed to pay the twenty-dollars toward it, it the other lnstltutu were agree- able.
