I IS Excellency the Lieutenant Governor in Council was this

day pleased to fix and determine the rate at which the

amount of the Invoice of Dutiable Goods imported into this Is-

land lrom the United States of America, shall, in estimating the

duties payable thereon, be reduced into current money of the Island, as follows:—

In all cases where such Invoices shall be made out in Dollars and Cents of the paper currency of the United States. the amount of such InVoice shall be reduced into current money of this Island, by allowing for each Dollar the sum of Five Shillings, and in the like proportion for any fraction of a. Dollar; of which all Collec- tors ot‘ lmpost are to take notice and govern thcmSclves accor- dingly.

INDIES and NEWFOUNDLAND, will be chargeable with a

single rate of postage for every Weight of four ounces, instead of

being charged two rates as at present, for any fraction of half a pound after the first half pound. Scale to be as follows:

A Packet weighing not more than 4 ounces, 1 rate,

“ “ above 4 oz. and not exceeding 8 oz., 2rates

“ “ 8 . “ I2 3 rates

“ “ 12 “ 1 lb. _ 4 rates

and so on.
