Une dépêche d’Heilsingfords dit que la glace qui bordait le littoral de la Finlande s’est rompue, tout à coup et que plus de 250 pêcheurs qui se trouvaient près de Somero ont été entraînés en pleine mer. On a envoyé des vaisseaux à leurs se- cours, mais ceux-ci sont revenus sans avoir rencontré les infortunés. On craint que ces hommes aient péri.

Une dépêche en date du 24 dit : Les trains de passagers retardés par la tempête sont encore bloqués. Un train, après avoir fait 60 milles dans la direction de St.-Jean, n’a pu se rendre plus loin et il a dû re- brousser chemin sur une distance de dix milles, jusqu’à une station où il y avait des vivres et du char- bon.

L'autre train du côté ouest du plateau, n’a pu rebrousser chemin.
