Curious Fisp.—This morning there 'was found in the = greystone with | which the Provincial Building

is beiog repaired, a large ball of granite. The stone is almost epherical with an average diameter of about @ foot, and is of a much darker colorthan the impris* oning greystone. It bas evidently been rounded by the action of water and lodged in the forming greystene. Itis of a uni- form color throughout, and has a little

red spotin the middle. The greystone came from Wallace, N.S. A

The city companies were then marched to the drill shed where they were inspect~ ed in gun drill (40 pound and 64 pound). Here also the men gave evidence of care~ ful training. Indeed, the manner in which they handled the big guns would have done no discredit to the R. C. A., or any other permanent force. After what we witnessed yesterday we can readily understand the remark of the Imperial officer, at Cape Town, in reference to the Cauadian Artillery when he said, “they are very fit and can learn nothing from Imperial Horse Artillery.” The inspecting officer, Colcnel Moore, who was at one time comamanding officer of this regiment, expressed himeelt as being very bighly pleased with the effici- ency of his old command.

Owing to the unavoidable absence of Lieut. -Colonel Lougworth, Major Davison commanded the regimentgand acquitted himself in such 4 manner as only au effici- ent soldier can.

The brigade band, which has recently been re-organized under the leadership of bandmaster M. M.Galbraith, was prssent and enlivened the proceedings with their eacellent music. This regiment is also to be congratulated on having the services of Staff-Instractor Sutherland, R. C. A., Quebec. lLlostructor Sutherland has been oo the Island for some weeks and it must be a source of pride to him to see the men, many of whom were recruits, acquit themselves so well.
