Were Lerr Bexinp.—Two American seamen of the Gloucester fishing schooner Hayward, Capt. Roberts, errived at Kalifax by steamer St. Pierre, on Wednesday morn- ing, in a destitute condition and reported to the United States consul-general. Phey went ashore at Cape Royal on leave, and during their absence the vessel put to rea without any appsrent good reason. The matter will be enquired into.

we chronicied the fact that the land on which Mr. G Ilis’ boarding stable stood was sold to L. E. Prowse for $1200. Mr. Gillia, however, tailed to find a purchaser for the building, buyers probab’y being somewhat intimidated by the late trouble over the moving of the Ch’town Hospital. The result is that Mr. Gillis is having the building torn down. The destruction of this building removes one of the old land- marks. It was originally built and used by the Baptiste as p'ace of worship, remain- ing as such until the erection of the Bap- tist Brick Church. Thereafter the build- ing served partly as a warchouse and

The Cold Weather Stopping its March.

Lonpon, Sept. 19. The steamer Irovopolis, hailing from Mid. dlesboro, has been quarantined atthe Crimean seaport Kertch. Eleven of the crew were stricken with cholera; two have died. Paxts, Sept. 10. Sixty -three cases of cholera and forty-nine deaths were reported here yesterday. Lispon, Sept. 10. The Portuguese Government bas cfiicially declared the porte of Swansea and Plymouth England infected with cholera, and ordered that all vessels arriving from these places be subject toa strict medical examination and then be quarantined for a certain period. MONTREAL, Sept. 10.
