Tue body of the boy Pieno was found shortly after the drowning accident at Rustico on Thursday. An inquest was held in view of it by Dr. Bradshaw, Coroner for Queen's County, and a verdict of ‘ accidental drown ing” was returned.

Accrprnt.—On Friday evening a son of Mr. Archd. McMillan, of Covehead, fastened his horse to a picket fence belonging to Mr. Geo. Crockett, senr., of Little York. The beast became restive and jumped on the fence, and immediately killed itself. We understand that it was a valuable animal. Mr. Me Millan having that day refused a large sum for it.

Tur Steamer ‘‘Princess of Wales” was yes- terday hauled upon the Marine Slip at Pictou forjtepairs. The ‘‘Northern Light” has taken her place on the Pictou-Charlottetown route, and made her first trip here last evening arriving at half past seven. It is expected that the ‘‘Princeas of Wales” will resume her trips in about a week or ten days.

It is estimated that there were over a thousand people on the shore. The yoang people spent the day in bathing, boating, croquet, swinging, eating, etc. Be fore the company dispersed, short addresses were delivered by Rev. G. Steele and Hon. D. It was necessary to hold the ground, for here the forces of Arabi were concentrating, and trouble was expected from them, as it was feared that they purpesed to break down ‘the bank, and overflow the surrounding /country. Soon after the British forces had taken up their positions, the dislodged forces of Arabi were rapidly reinforced iby Egyptians from Tel-el-Kebir, where ithe Rebel had been throwing up entr. nch- imei ts, expecting to be attackd from the |direction of El Kantara. It was soon ob- servable that the forces of the Egyptians

and that they had ten heavy guns with them. The British being hemmed in, held their ground valiantly during the whole of the day. The casualties on our side were small, but the full list is not yet known. On Friday, the British forces received re- inforeements, and General Wolseley began an attack upon the enemy. The fight was proceeding when the despatch was sent, 'and the result is not yet known.

ALEXANDRIA, Aug. 25,

Arabi’s forces are arriving in great num- bers towards Heliopolis, a few miles east of Cairo.

Arabi has grown very vivlent towards De Lesseps, and accuses him of acting the part of a treacherous deceiver. Arabi says that the promises of De Lesseps were given for the purpose of selling quietly the navi-

ation of the Canal to the British forces. De Desseps promised that the canal should net be used for military purposes. The fecling is very bitter against the Frenchman and a high price has been placed upon his head.

The British forces sre now occupying Maximel.

THE PORTE DENIES AGAIN.
