The Society in it‘s name per-l petuates the memory of J oh if Howard. 1726 — 1790. a h i g h e'ieriff of I‘ngland whose volu-l minous reports produced the first prison reforms in England in 1774.

The annual meeting of the Prince Edward Island Society will be held Saturday. Oct. 3. at the Basilica Recreation Centre at 2.30 pm. Lieutenant Gover- nor W.J. MacDonald. Premier W.R. Shaw and Mayor AW. Gaudet will be in attendance at a dinner sponsored by the City of Charlottetown. preceeding the meeting. The guest speaker will be A.J. MacLeod. Canadian Commissioner of Penitentiaries.
