A PRIVATE TELEGRAM has been received at Ottawa stating that the American, Canadian, European & Asiatic Cable Co., which was chartered last session, has completed its organization. The Board ef Directors is one of the strongest in capital and influence ever formed. The capital has been all subscribed and operations will be commenced at once. The company intends laying two cables next year and will, during the com‘ng winter, make arrangements for the construction of land lines from Palifax to Victoria, connect- ing with all the principal cities of the De- mi aion.

Lamps.-—There is a good demand for Canada
lambs in the American markets, and large uantities have recently beeu shipped from Ontario markets to the principal markets ia the Eastern States. During the past week there has also been an enquiry in Quebec, and lambs have been bought there for shipment south of the line. On the New York market on Monday last a lot of Canadian lambs sold at 7c. per lb., which was the top price of the day. Among other sales at good prices on the same market were those of 1,892 Canadian lambs at 6e to Gic per Ib., and 1,098 do at $5.624 to $5.70 per 100 lbs. The weights of the above ranged from 70 to 82 lbs. per head. Some of the lambs recently purchased on this market for American account were only the
