A shocking occurrence is reported from Glen Cove, a short distance from St. John,. N. B. A woman named Clark was found dead in her own house with her body badly burned about the neck and arms. The eause of her death is as yet a mystery. Coroner Rig '% 8 states that on Saturday at four o'clo ‘k he arrived with a jury at the scene, fie says: As he entered the kitchen of the house where the accident occurred, thera was before his eyes the remains of the unfortunite woman in the fireplace. She was sitting on the ashes, her back against the wall, her head erect, eyes star- ing wildly, knees pointed towards her chin, with the elbows resting on her knees, and the charred arms from her elbows to the finger ends pointing upwards. The body was almost nude, save some tattered and burned portions of a chemise which parily covered the remains. The hair was dishevelled and somewhat singed, and her face bore tho expression or having suffered intense agony. Besidf the corpse stvod the little grand daughtee patting deceased on the bac k, the mother of the child in her excitement at the sight revealed to hor, having forgotten to take the little one away. Another look around the room displayed fragments of an oil lamp and@'shade sexttered about the floor ; also portions of clothing in which large ‘holes were burned. There was oil on the floor, and what little covering was on the woman was saturated with it.” If is rumored that the woman was murdered. Spots of what appeare:! to be bloed were seen on the bed room door, and a hatchet with the ap- pearance of blocd upon it was found on the
