HALIFAX (CUP) - Stu- dent council- lors at Mount Saint Vincent University forced the cancel- lation of a women-only dance scheduled to celebrate Inter-

_ national Women’s Day.

“We were told by the student union we could not have a women-only pub night because it was reverse dis- crimination,” said the chair of the university’s ad hoc IWD organizing committee, Tarel Quandt.

But student council pres- ident Jan Thomas denies that was the reasoning be- hind the decision. She said a policy that council- sponsored events be open to all students convinced coun- cillors to unanimously insist
