At the conference at Dantzic, Sept. 1, of 800 delegates from various German Catholic societies it was decided to promote an in- ternational Catholic congress, the object of which would be to discuss the restoration of the Pope's temporal power. It was also decided to take steps to commemorate the Pope's birthday (March 2) by the erection of a monumert at Meppen, Hanover, to the memory of the late Dr. Ludwig Wihdthorst, formerly leader of the Centre party in the Reichstag, and the recognized head of the Romana Catholic party in Germany.
