ConsTanTinopLe, July 19.—At Satur- day’s sitiing of the peace conference’ the Turkish Minister of Foreign Aftairs sub- mitted a new frontier scheme which was unacceptable to the powers. The ambas- sadors thereupon informed the Minister that the conference would adjoure until he brought the written acceptance of their proposal by his government.

THE TRADE OUTLOOK.

New York, July 18.—R. G. In wholesale trade at Victoria local business is quiet, but the demand from outside points is fair.

The meeting called by Messrs. Sinclair and Warburtoa, at Hope River last Friday evening was a big affair for the Couserva tives,

Messrs. Beaton and McLeod rece ved an excellent hearing aod were warmly ap pluuded, while Mesers. Sinclair and War- burton’s friends could scarcely raise a tramp. The meeting was further addressed by Dr. McD e 1, Thomas Doyie and Wm. Hogan, who ip taro denounced the Peters Combination and made an excellent pres=:or upon the electors, while J. C. Clarke, J. IT. Cosgrove and T. Cullen made a faint attempt to defend the Peters Goveroment, The ude bas surely changed when prominent Liberals who have always voted that way got up and publicly told Messrs. Sinclairand Warburton they would not vote forthem. Messrs. Beaton and McLeod have an excellent prospect for victory on the 2lst, as dissatisfaction is heard on every side.
