Tux ‘Pioneer’ reports that Mr. W. H Belyea has disposed of his lobster factories at Black Pond and Miminigash to Mr. Holman, ef Summerside, who intends to continue the business in connexion with Mr, McAllister, of Miminigash. Mr. Belyea belongs to St. John, and has been doing business in Prince County for some years. He stands in the very first rank of square, honest men, and we are indeed sorry that he has decided to leave the Province. He intends to resume the can- ning business in Cape Breten.

Boston Prices.—Receipts of potatoes have been quite liberal during the past week, and the market is ashade easier. Prices range from 65 to 78 cents. The supply of oats is dull, and from 412 to 45 cents per bushel is the price asked, A good jobbing movement is visible in mack- erel and codfish, and the outlook is quite encouraging though the demand for round lota is rather slight. The egg market is well supplied, and prices range from 13} to 14 cents per dozen.

We are informed by Mr. Theo. L. Chap- pelle, Agent for the Redpath Lyceum Bureau, that the Redpath Concert Co.—recognized as one of the choicest combinations in America— will give two of their inimitable entertain- ments in this city in May next. A rich musical treat is in store for our people. Arrangements are also being completed with Jastin McCarthy, and it is expected that three lectures by this distinguished Nationalist will be given here during the ensuing summer, of which fu!l particalars will be shortly given.

in answer to a question, Hon, Mr. Thompson said that all the documenta had been brought down asking that Riel should not be pardoned or sentence not com- muted. The House then proceeded with the debate on Landry’s censure motion.

Hon. Mr. Thompson, on rising, was re- ceived with great applause. He said the charge that Landry’s motion was framed by the Government was not true. In the nature of things, Parliament could not and ought not to be the Court ef Appeals in such cases. Partizan feeling was always present, and the Commons could not come to the question with the calm deliberation necessary. After a long and very able speech, Mr. Thompson sat down at six o'clock amidst loud applause.

All say he has laid out Blake cold, and made a great reputation for himself.

After recess, Mr, Thompson dealt with the further evidence of Riel’s criminality He referred to this as his second offence, and ridiculed the idea that the first offence should not be considered. He entered most fully into the question of the sanity of the prisoner.

Gladstone’s Scheme.

Gladstone occupied his usval place in the House of Commons this afternoon. He appeared in excellent health and spirits.

H. Campbell Bannerman, Secretary for War, announced that the Government had withdrawn the British troops on the Nile to Assouan.

It is affirmed this evening, by a person believed to know, that there never bas been any foundation for the statements that Gladstone intended to ask authority to issue aloan in order to secure funds to carry out his schemg to buy out real estate owners of Ireland. It is now declared that the Premier in his scheme proposes the appointment of a commission of experts to fix the value of land properties in Ireland, which, at these valuations,are to be handed over to the Government in exchange for consols.

In this way Ireland is to be made a debtor to the Empire for the amount paid to the landlords, together with the interest, the whole sum to be repaid into the Imperial Treasury by Ireland in instal- ments within the term of fifty years. At end of the term the lesses become owners, It necessarily involves Home Rule.
