Georges Caron, member of the City Council for Maisonneuve, did not quite see how enthusiastic a recep- tion Santa Claus would get in his ward. As a result the old gentle- man had to make a second trip to the North Pole to refill his "bot- tomless" bag- Ald. Caron had undertaken t0 give Santa a hand and distribute joy to the little ones of the unem- played in the ward.

The first present was t0 be handed on; sharp on the dot of nine yesterday. At one second after nine the first little girl was on hand she got her doll and her bag of candy, and e. smile. A little boy followed to get his trumpet and his bag of candy and another grin. Af- ter that they came, and came. Din- ner time and they still came. Sup- per time they were still coming.

Five hundred pounds of candy were gone; oranges by the case; apples by the barrel: toys by the gross. still they came. ,

Bo Christmas had to pass and it wasn't until today that Santa got back with more candy and toys. Then, in the snow and cold, the hospitality of the festive season went forward once again.

Late tonight it was computed that 2.200 little ones from all over the city had visited the Aldermarrs home.
