Congratulations and best wishes are being extended to the bridal couples oi York who were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest MacDonald (nee Gladys Crockett) and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford White (nee Viola Jay.) The former Miss Jay was a valu- ed employee of S. A. MacDonald, Charlottetown. Miss Crockett was employed by Mr. Arthur Vessey, York.
Mr. and Mrs. Waldron Lowther/ and family of Cornwall motored to York on Sunday, and while in York they were the welcome guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe MacDonald.
Miss Margaret Stewart. Dun- staffnage spent Sunday the guest of her sister, Mrs. Wesley Mat- hews of York. ’
A very appropriate and esteem- able occasion took place in York Hall recently when the many friends! and neighbors of York conveyed their best wishes ‘of prosperity and success to Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Vessey and son Stir- ling in a farewell party.
When this jolly crowd had gathered Rev. J. I-I. MacCallum called "Order" and expressed the purpose,of the gathering 1n a welcome to Mr. and Mrs- Ycssey among them for the evening 1n hrs usual jolly manner.
Mr. Harold‘ Watts read a nicely worded address which again ex- pressed the esteem of the well wishers.
Mr. Bobby Barwise presented the Vesseys with a beautiful ches- terfleld chair a fitting token of their wishes.
Wendall and Ethel both_ grac- iously thanked them_ for IhlS love- ly surprise also invrted one. and all to their new home in Wrnsloe. After social intercourse and B dainty lunch was served, and the singing of For They Are Jolly Good Fellows and a merry B")? song, all departed again inviting Wendell. Ethel and Stirling i0 their homes at any time. _
Wendail lived all this life 1n York attending York School and actively taking part in the Rrflc Club and other community pro- jects. Ethel although coming to York as a bride was well known. living most of her childhood days in the nearby community of Covehead and about a mile from WendalPs home. Stirling was a lad well liked by his school chums intYork. also a helper in the school concerts and many ha??? picnics of the community- n ca" he justyQsaId what ls York's loss in the community is Winsloe's gain. , One of our summer visitors who was charmed with the beauties of our island province was Miss Campbell. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Campbell of Moncton, New Brunswick who motored to P. E. I. spending a most enjoyable vacation with friends in Kensington. While on the Island they were the guests of Mrs. Roscoe MacDonald, York.
