An Expert Swimmer.

A good story used to be related of Andrew Murray who was an expert swimmer, end likeda joke. He lived at the time down by the burying ground, near theshore in Pictou. He and two lads went down to the Guif to have s bathe, when Andrew remarked that he had. business over on Prince Edwerd Island, and snugly securing his bundle of clothes, and armed witha bowie knife to kill the sharks, desiring his companions to meet him here in the morning, he bade them good-night, and struck out in the direction named,

but when around the Point made a detour, and, charging those at home to make no revelations, was safely out of sight when the others returned with a sad siory. He made sure to be at the

shore by day-broak, however, and as the lads came down to search for the body of their lost friend, Andrew was beat- ing in for tho shore apparently in an exhausted condition and had afterwards wonderful Isiand sews for his amazed and credulous corm panions, who, it is said never took in the situation.
