——— i Fearful Outrages.

A despatch ofthe 26th inst. from Auckland, New Zealand, states that the Government schooner Julia, which is regularly employed in procuring laborers from different groups of islands in the Pacific, to work on sugar plantations in the Sandwich Islands, recently landed at the Island of Nan- ouki,with ebout thirty returned laborers who belonged to the Islands of Fara- wsy and Opiang in the same group, inhabitants of which bave been at con- stant warfare with the inhabitants of Nanouki. The returned laborers on landing, seized a number of young girls and ravished them, which pro- voked a fight with the natives who were armed only with clubs and spears. Twenty of the Nanoukis were killed and many wounded, while others escaped to the Islaod of Apamama a short distance away. Being reinforced there, a num- ber returned to Nanouki, where another affray occurred in which several were killed on each side, and three or four of the assailants were carried off to Ap-
