Post Office Improvements.

Sir,—We noticed with pleasure in your last evening’s issue that increased accom- modation has been provided in our Post Office. This improvement will doubtless be appreciated by all concerned. It was also stated that arrangements were to be made for opening the office during a certain por- tion of the Lord’s day. Our Postmaster is certainly a very obliging gentleman and well qualified for the position he occupies ; but we hope that he will not be induced to make any arrange nents of this kind. Some would, no dov ot, be gratified with the change; but a gceat number, and it is to le hoped a very large majority of the inhabi- tants of this city would very much prefer the existing arrangements.

lt surely cannot be argued that either the private or public interests of the citizens of Charlottetown would suffer by the oflice re- maining closed from 10 p. m., on Saturday evening until Monday morning.

By all means let ‘‘works of charity and of mercy” be performed on the Sabbath; but for the public generally a change is not a necessity, and forthe employees it could not possibly be a work of mercy.
