Fall Fest, the Yearbook,

by John Gallant ,_ The UPEI Yearbook has the past been notoriously ‘ ,short of staff. The last ten years have rarely seen a staff of over five work- ing on a particular issue;' indeed, on some occasions one person has acted as editor, copywriter, layout artist, and so forth. Yet we have consistently turned out quality books, even if they are late by times.

The job of putting together a yearbook is no easy task. The position of editor re- quires someone with a genuine desire to see the book pro— duced (i.e. willing to put . in long hours at minimum salary). He or she is direc— tly responsible for motiva- ting the workers to meet deadlines. He or she is

also responsible to the Student Union executive, seeing to it that the book

meets their specifications. _ The copywriter is mspon— sible for collecting _all , copy for the book. This in- cludes writeups major

The real need for staff on Nexus falls into the category of layout artists. These are the people who actually designiand draw the pages under the super- vision of the editor.

Welcome to UPEI. We hope that receiving all this information about school does not detract too much from the enjoyments of a summer day. We decided to put out this summer edition of the SUN ' mainly as an ad for ourselves, but also to pass on ' any information that you might otherwise not be getting. _ * '

To'tell the truth, it's pretty hard to think seriously about school while lying on the beach, but in order to keep the SUN shining this year it

needs your help .

The quality of this paper-boils

\ down to what the students contribute. Therefore, we need'writers of all persuasions to contribute y . regularly: in movie, theatre review, and sports. ‘ columns, or, irregularly if you just have a _ particular view or gripe about something. We need photographers, poets, layout perscins, and moral support on Tuesdaynights when the paper is put

together .

If you can do any or all of these things

find your way up. to the SUN office on the 4th floor Main building or visit the SUN information table

during registration .
