Following the death of Bishop O‘Leary in 1930, a new bishon, Most Reverend Joseph A. 0‘ Sullivan. came to the diocese from Toronto. One of his first official acts was the inaugura- tion of a campaign for n n e w motherhouse, The building fund was gradually built up over the years with bequest In voluntary donations.

But down through the years. with their motto “Amor et La- bor" as a guide. these dedicat- ed women saw the order grow. both in numbers and stature. and today they proudly contin- ue in their new motherhouvse on Mt. Edward Road.

The beautiful new quarters permit the Sisters a scope of ac- tivity impossible in older. crow- ded buildings. Of special value to them are the spacious class- rooms. home economics rooms, music rooms and library which mean so much in meeting the educational needs of the sisters.

One wing is devoted to the chapel and auditorium and ad- Jacent to the chapel are the bhaplaln's quaters. Work rooms for printing. arts. crafts and sewing are being equipped and individual sleeping rooms are provided for 100 sisters as well as adequate infirmary ind recreational facilities.

Perhaps the Sisters of St. Martha are best known in their various administrative capaci- ties, particularly in hospital field where at least part of the enviable reputation of the Char- lottetown Hospital is due to their efforts.
