Shirley Carr, Executive Vice President of the Canadian Labour Congress will be the guest speaker at a banquet at UPEI on Wednesday, November 30. The banquet, which is open to thevpublic, marks the conclusion of a six—part lecture series entitled “Women and Unions”.

Engineering acceptances out

At its meeting on November 18, Senate voted to reduc, acceptance to the first year engineering program at UP} from 70 to 65, in an attempt to keep final class enrolmcu under the level of 50 students.

The suggested figure was 60 acceptances, in light of pres ent over-crowded conditions in the department and the slut chance of getting extra funding to increase resourses. it: the interest of open admissions, however, a compromise at 65 was reached.

Solidarity mass on Sunday

A Solidarity mass for the struggles of the Urenadian and El Salvadorean people will be held at me cnaptaincy centre on Sunday, November 27 at 6:30 pm. The Mass \\ ill re, member those who have died in the pursuit of freedom and justice. Special guest will be Armando Peredes who is visiting UPEI through the sponsorship of the Canadian Federation of Students and our Student Union. This special liturgy will be followed by a Pot Luck Supper at 7:30, sponsored by the Central American Information Group. Tickets are $2.00 and can be picked up from Father ~Phil Callaghan. The University Community is also invited to a public meeting with Mr. Peredes on Monday.

Beware before Christmas

Before leaving for the Christmas holidays, students are urged to ensure that they do not owe money at the Business Office nor have Library books in their possession. Marks will be withheld in either case and, since the University will be closed Christmas and New Year’s, there will be no way to check andget cleared until 3 January. Be sure ahead of time and avoid disappointment.

Also make sure that the Registrar’s Office has your correct mailing address.
