A total of 85 legion members, wives and guests attended the annual banquet of the Kingston branch of the Canadian Legion at the Clover Club last evening.

Bristol University Professor TO Address Groups Tonight

Professor Charles Machines, M.A., L1. D., professor of imper- ial history at the University of Bristol, England will address the members of the P.E.1. Advisory Board, Women’s Auxiliary and Friendship Club of the Blind, at a joint meeting of the organiza- tion at the Charlottetown Hotel this evening at 8 p.m.

Mr. Machines, who is current- ly touring Canada speaking to various groups of the blind, boards and auxiliaries of the C. N.I.B., will speak on the work of the Royal Commonwealth Society for the blind.

nounced a number of staff changes. H. Ray MacKean, assistant

manager at the city bank for the past two years. has been trans- ferred to St. John’s, Nfld.. where he will assume the post of sen- ior assistant to the manager.

Born at Tatamagouche, N. 8., Mr. M‘acKean, is married to an Island girl the former Estelle McIntyre of Montague. They have two children.

Clarence Bartlett, transferred to the city branch from Monxcton 18 months ago as accountant, has succeeded Mr. MacKean as assistant manager. He is a native of Bonavistza, Nfld.

R. N. Roop, a member of the Halifax banlk staff, will succeed Mr. Bartlett as accountant.

Hears‘ Report On Conference

The monthly meeting of Royal Edward Chapter I.O.D.E. was held at the Cliar‘lottlt‘orwn Hotel Monday with a good attendance. The regent Mrs. W. E. Massey presided.

Mrs. J. A. Lawson gave an in- teresting report of the provincial conference on education recently held in Charlottetown.

A letter from Miss Loraine, Cameron a P.W.C. student. wasl read thanking the chapter for scholarship, Mrs. J. A. MacMillan reported a box to be packed this week for shipment overseas.

Members of the chapter will assist the Senior Citizens’ Club at Beach Grove on January 19th and
