SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND. May 12—(CP) -In an army back- to-the-land movement, large num- bers of Canadian troops have be- come pait-tinm gardeners to help increase general food production in England.

Elaring in the national food pro- ductlon scheme, many officers and men of Canadian corps are digging. seeding and attending to small truck gardens on requisitioncd pro- perties in their areas.

British formations are doing it too. and the products will be dis- posed of in a manner to raise the general level of foodstuffs in the United Kingdom. It. will not mean an inczease in army rations for if these garden products are consum- ed in messes, an equivalent reduc- tion in requisitioning of rations will be made.
