these new stations. CIMN has faces some problems with the C:R.T.C‘over music and programme content since it received a broad— cast license in 1973.‘
The C.R.T.C. is now trying
to form policies about 3 college radio stations and so it-is expected that- they will try to pressure CIMN into airing more educational programming and Canadian music during the next few years.
It wasn't until Thursday night's council meet—
officially adopted by council._ They are to be sold for $5.00 and the profit from the sale of these pictures was to be used to set up a Student Aid Fund_administered by Student Union. , V
A similiar fund is pres— ently being run by Student- Services and it is expected that it will continue to be available to students.
Jim Griffith has told Derek Key that if the S.U. wishes to go ahead with this project a $650.00 grant will

The _C.R.TIC. and the Department of Communication are demand— ing the installation of a field, strength meter in order to approve the station's technical certification. Since the station expects to have such a meter in— stalled by mid—January» there is little likelihood \ ofxthegCIR.T.C not granting the station a license renewal.

Council could not decide if this plan was indeed feas— ible so they postponed ~a decision on how to use the profits until a later date. -It's possible they will never 'have to worry about that decision as there has to a 'profit first.
