This action, Mr. MacDonald states, is the result of concerted effort made during the last sever- al years to obtain some relief from the ever increasing transportation costs which the Island potato move- ment had to bear. Over a year ago, as a result of the prospective devel- opment of other transportation fac- tors the Canadian National Rail- way instituted a water and truck competitive rate from Island shipping points to Ontario and Quebec destinations west of Levis and Diamond Junction.

A new type of street lighting is being tried out on Kent street by the Maritime Electric Company on request of the Light Committee of the City Council. The installation is 9. single unit of a mercury vapor non-glare light which may at sight be compared with the standard in- stallatlons in the area. This type of light is used extensively in the business sections in larger centres. but used more sparingly in the residential areas.

E. I., when engaged in fighting with Cecil Molyneaux."

A total of 13 witnesses were ex- amined yesterday, ten of whom had previously testified at the inquest. The evidence heard from the ten was similar to that given at the inquest with nothing contradictory in any instance. The five-year rural electrifica- tion program. which the govern- ment snnounced last year and which got under way during the past summer, will probably be completed in three years. Premier A. W. Mathcson said at Annan- dale last night. He was speaking during ceremonies connected with energizing the eight miles of new line between Bay Fortune and Annandale.

The ceremony began at 1.30 when Mr. George A.
