School Examination, Temperance and Other Interesting Matters.

Our half yearly examination in the school took place on Friday the 30th day of December and those present expressed themsetves as pleased with the progress the children had made during the year. The credit is due to Miss Ella Brown, the teacher, who is always anxiou- about her pupils as was shown at the close of the examination when she pres: nted each child with a neat little basket wade of paste-board trimmed with tisene paper full of candy, which made them smile as they left the the school.

Pearly Stream Division is getting on fine. It was favored by a view from the Graod Scribe a few nights age, who gave the members some good advice along temperance lines, The officers for the present quarter are: W P—Charles Mc- Kenzie; W A—Grace E Burgoyne; R 8 —Ella Brown ; A R S—Christina Corbet; F S—Herbert Taylor; T A—C Taylor; C —A K Henry;C—Lewis Taylor; AC—Thos Taylor; O S—James Taper; I S—David Taylor; P W P~—George Morris. With this efficient staff of offisers, we predict for Pearly Stream a prosperous quarter.

Our genial blacksmith, Mr George Morrison bas been coufiaed to the house fora week or ten days, but under the ekillful treatment of Dr McNeill 1s able to be OuL again.

The Court met in Charlottetown from 27th December last until Munday, Sth i ost., when it was adjourned unti! Saturday next for delivery of judgments in suits reserved. The docket consisted of about 150, cases of which a number were tried. Among these may be mentioned the following:

Inland Navigation Company, Limited, vs John H. Wonnacott, action for hire of steamer Jacques Gartier, $40. Defendant hired the steamer for # picnic excursion for the Sons of England to Crapaud and back on 16th Angust last. The defence was(1) that he acted as agent, (2) that the steamer in returning left behind the caterer and sey-
