Large areas, ordinarily uncult- able for the punpoise. have been planted to gram. Under fav- ouralble weather conditions the crop from an area equal to that planted in recent years would furnish seri- ouns marketing problems. The efforts towards self-sufficiency in food supplies on the part of many countries. and particularlly Ger- many. France and Italy. have also narrowed the international market for wheat and flour to a point where total overseas sales of the four important non-European ex- porters have been reduced as fol- lows:

It is a sad commentary that a large crop in Canada. unless ac- companied by cro failures in other countries. woud bring little more total remuneration to our fmmers as a whole than they have secured in the years of drought.
