Her many friends are pleased to learn Mrs. W. E. Jenkins, Greek River. has had a very successful op- eration for appendicitis in the City Hospital. and is now much improved.

Recently Mr. W. E. Jenkins and Mr. James Jenkins, Greek River, motored to the city. They made fast time, having performed the trip from Montague in one hour.

We are pleased to note the rapid disappearance of "flu" in this vicin-

MILTON KENNEDY

Seldom were the people oi any community cast into greater gloom than were the people of New Perth

claimed one in their midst, Milton Kennedy, forty-two years of age, in manhoolfs active might, in the mid- dle of the busy activities of a useful life to him the "call" came. Recov- ering from an attack oi flu, he suf- fered a relapse, accompanied with‘ pleurisy and pneumonia, which, de- spite the best medical skill and good nursing proved fatal, and in the still watch of Sunday night, Feb. 3rd, he peacefully breathed his last and his spirit returned to the God who gave it. With the exception oi a icw years spent in the West, he liv- ed in New Perth, and was one of its most progressive and prosperous far- mers. Upright and honest in all deal- ing with his fellow man, of a pleas- ant, cheerful and sociable disposition, he was well liked by everybody and will be missed by all.

Besides a large circle of friends, he leaves to mourn, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Kennedy, New Perth; one sister, Mrs. Leslie Mellish, Boston; three brothers, Charles in Saslc; Oswald and James, Boston; a widow and five children, Ada, George, Charlie, Roy and Carl. to whom the sympathy oi the whole community goes forth. The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, the Rev, Mr. Stiﬂ of Montague. A large num- ber of carriages followed the remains to the Peoples Cemetery, Montague.

In Memoriam MRS. NELSON THOMAS

There passed away suddenly at her home in Augustine Cove, on Friday. Jan. 25th, 1929, Margaret Jane Beer. relict of the late Nelson ‘Thomas, at the advanced age oi 8B years. The late Mrs. Thomas, althouBh lmicuc‘ ally a cripple for the past twenty-one years, was up and in her chair as usual, until about seven o'clock in the evening when she expressed a wish to be helped to bed, as she was not feeling very well. The doctor was immediately summoned, but all that medical skill and loving care could do, was to no avail, as her spirit took its flight, soon after the doctor ar- rived. Death was due to a paralytic stroke. The late Mrs. Thomas was born in DeSabie, P. E. I., and early in liic she moved to Augustine Cove. where she spent the remainder of her life. Being of a quiet and loving d15- position she was loved by all who knew her, and although a cripple for so many years, she was never heard to murmur or complain. She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, four daughters and one son, also twenty-one grand children and five great grand children. The daugh- ters are: Mrs. Mae Milligan, who ten- derly- cared for her through all the years of her affliction and Mrs. Wm. McNeili, of Augustine Cove, P. E. 1.; Mrs. Percy Bent and Mrs. James Seaman oi Bayfleld, N. B., and the son Mr. William H. Thomas, Cape Spear, N. 13., all of whom were pre- sent at the funeral. The funeral which was largely attended, consid- cring the condition of the roads was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Myron 0. Brinton. The remains were then laid to rest in the ‘Peoples Cem- eiery at ‘Tryon, beside those of her_ husband, who predeceased hcr some twenty seven years ago. Tho pail boaters were Messrs William H. 'I‘ho- mas, Jas. Seaman, Wellington Tho- mas und Norman Allen.
